Hard to believe another month has gone by!
November was really a month of slow bleeding in our budget. We had to dip into our emergency fund to pay our car insurance deductible, and I started Christmas shopping. We’ve been busy with the kids, so we ate out a bit more this month than we did in October.
On a positive note, our gas budget has gone down dramatically! I was so happy to put half a tank of gas in the minivan and have it only be $20 instead of the $40 it was just a few months ago.
My coupon usage was also way up: we saved $229.88 in November by clipping coupons. I’m amazed that I did that well considering the fact that my coupon binder has been woefully neglected lately.
A review of our November budget reminds me that I need to step up my game. My biggest weakness is eating out, and I eat out because I don’t have a plan. I need to be more diligent about planning out the week’s dinners based on what we have in our pantry and freezer (and there is plenty).
I also need to work hard at finding great deals for Christmas gifts. It’s late for me to be starting my shopping, so I’ll have to work that much harder to hold onto my pennies.
How did your November go? What are your financial goals for December?
