My April budgeting was surprisingly on track in some areas and horribly off track in others. There were a lot of factors for this – some health issues, some home maintenance issues, etc., but the real story is that we just didn’t have our heads in the game as much as we usually do. We ate out more, we couponed less (only $131.95 in savings this month). We spent money on a few treats like a newspaper subscription and Easter baskets. Despite not meeting our budget goals, we still lived well within our means. This monthly exercise is a good reminder to stay focused on our goals. As Karen at Living Well on Less writes, comfort can breed complacency.
So, now that I’ve given myself a little kick in the rear, here are a few articles I’ve come across recently that I thought may be of interest to you:
I’ve written in the past about my stockpiling getting out of control, so I read with great interest this post by Free Money Finance called Saving versus Hoarding.
I was quoted in 25 Good Things about Bad Times: Making the Best of Tough Economy by Evonne Lack at Baby Center. It all comes back to Why the Recession is Good For Us.
Have you ever wondered if a printable coupon you’ve found is legit? Common Sense With Money has the answer in her post, Fraudulent Coupons Resource.
After I wrote my post Trying My Best to Help Others, I came across the post Living Life Under the Frugal Microscope from Living Well On Less. Sometimes we frugal folks feel out of place. Guess I’m not so alone after all!
How did your month go? What are you hoping to improve for next month?
