What Will A Cheapskate Spend Good Money On?

What’s worth spending money on?  When you’re a self-proclaimed cheapskate, the answer isn’t easy.

Brad Tuttle of The Cheapskate Blog at Time.com  has been asking the question “What Will a Cheapskate Spend Good Money On?” in a special series of posts.  He asked frugal bloggers, writers, money-saving and consumer experts to come up with a list of products, services, etc., that they’re willing to spend money on.

As he writes, “Because if a cheapskate is willing to drop cash on something, you know it’s worthwhile.”

I’ve found the entire series fascinating…. and not just because I share what I’m willing to spend money on in Part V!  As I read the other frugalites’ lists, I found myself nodding my head and thinking, “I should have put that on my list.”

The truth is that my list reflects my approach to personal finance.  I focus on the everyday things you spend (or save) money on.  Sure, I’ll splurge on a mattress when it comes time to replace the old one.  But I’m more concerned about the things that make everyday life comfortable.

Stay tuned for the rest of the series.  Jeff Yeager, The Ultimate Cheapskate, will be sharing his list in Part VI.
