When I finally sat down to look at how spending went in August, I had a feeling things would look good.
I’m glad that the actual numbers didn’t disappoint me! I tried a lot harder in August to reign in my crazy spending spree that really messed up my July. We spent significantly less than the previous month in every single category except clothing: it just worked out that all three boys needed new shoes at the same time my husband needed a few new things for work.
We ate out a lot less in August, too, in part because my husband is now back at work, and we don’t have as much flexibility in our schedule to go out as we once had. I’ve been better at meal planning… still not quite as organized as I would like to be, but definitely better.
Potty training has been postponed for now – there is just too much other chaos going on in our lives right now – but soon we’ll get back on that track, too.
My main goal for the month of September is to complete my 30 Days With No Soda Challenge. I think this will be good for our grocery budget as well as my health.
I’m going to continue to hone my meal-planning skills in September – and try very hard to use up some things lurking in the back of my pantry.
How did August go for you? What are some of your goals for the month of September?
