Long before we ever had kids, my husband and I loved playing board games. It was a frugal way to spend a fun evening with friends, or just each other.
Now that my oldest boy is four, we’re starting to introduce him to board games as well. He doesn’t always get the object of the game, but he loves spending quality time with mom or dad and we enjoy the value of a good game and a fun evening at home.
So when Hasbro and My Blog Spark asked if they could send me two Hasbro games from the Elefun and Friends collection, I was thrilled. I had been looking for some fun new games for my preschooler’s collection, and these games did not disappoint.
In Scatterpillar Scramble, kids will do their best to balance marbles in the hands of one very wiggly caterpillar. Kids will have fun playing along to the music in this fast paced game, which was named the 2009 Preschool Game of the Year by Creative Child Magazine.
This game was a bit challenging for my four-year-old (and my husband!), but it was still a lot of fun. The music is catchy and it’s a great game for working on those fine motor skills. This will definitely be a game my son will be able to grow into. I can see playing this for several more years.
Giraffalaff Limbo is the crazy new game of “how low can you go? Spin the dial to try one of the 6 limbo styles: classic, crab walk, crawl, giraffe walk, bend forward or backward. The game’s built-in sound will play an encouraging song as preschoolers try not to bump into Giraffalaff. If he’s knocked over, he’ll roll on the floor in laughter. The play who passes under Giraffalaff at the lowest level wins.
Giraffalaff Limbo was a HUGE hit in my house – with my four-year-old, as well as my twin two-year olds. While they don’t quite get what limboing truly means, they had a blast trying to crawl under the limbo pole without touching it and have played this game for more than a half-hour at a time (which is amazing considering the attention span of little boys!). Each time the Giraffalaff bursts into laughter, so do my boys. It is quite fun to watch! There are only two downsides to this game: the posts aren’t really tall enough for grown-ups to play (unless you are really limber, which I am not!), and the game doesn’t go back in the box once it’s assembled, so be aware that storing this game will take up some space.
Scatterpillar Scramble and Giraffalaff Limbo are great additions to the Elefun and Friends collection, which includes Elefun, Hungry Hungry Hippos and Gator Golf. These fun, silly, active games would be a great addition to your child’s game collection as well!
Be sure to print off a coupon for $4 off any game from the Elefun and Friends collection from Hasbro. The coupon is only available until October 31, but it doesn’t expire until December 31, so it will be perfect to use this holiday season!
