There are no get-rich-quick schemes in this post to help you raise some fast cash. But there are few simple ways I was able to scrounge up $287.50 in just a couple of weeks with minimal effort.
I sold $167 worth of clothing and baby equipment on consignment. I took all of my stuff to a store that paid me cash up front so I didn’t have to wait to get paid. Best part: Not only did I make some money, but I’ve got less stuff cluttering my closets, and I didn’t spend much time doing it.
We recycled 117 pounds of aluminum cans and collected $47. I’m not going to lie to you – this took about 3 years to have a collection this size. If you don’t drink anything from aluminum cans, consider taking a walk along country roads or city parks. You can pick up cans you find and turn them in for cash.
We checked our pockets and found $11 in spare change. Spare change adds up quickly. We keep a change jar, but even with that, sometimes coins get shoved in weird places. Check your couch cushions, vehicles, jackets and purses to see if you can find any change.
I cashed in Swag Bucks for $25 in Amazon gift card money. Swag Bucks is a great way to earn freebies like gift cards, merchandise, and cash, especially when you know how to maximize your Swag Buck earnings.
I cashed in some of MyPoints to get a $10 gift card. MyPoints rewards you for reading your e-mail, using their online shopping portal, and much, much more.
And of course, we managed to keep $27.50 in our pockets thanks to the use of coupons and rebates. (Note: this was a light week for us for coupon use and rebates – our monthly average is usually much higher.) It takes me about an hour a week to clip and organize coupons and plan my shopping trips, and the savings is so worth it.
If I can come up with nearly $300 in the course of a couple of weeks, I know you can too. Sell some stuff, take on some odd jobs, and you’ll find some cash to put toward your debt, your next vacation, or retirement.
