The following is a guest post by Chris from How to Lose Weight Healthy.

Have you ever paid out a lot of money to try a weight loss product or to join a gym so that you could lose weight?

There are a lot of products that cost a lot of money to buy and there is no real guarantee that they really work. Every year people spend millions of dollars on weight loss products and things that are supposed to aid them in losing weight, but often they overlook the free methods that are available for them to use in order to make the extra fat disappear. If you do not want to spend money on products then make sure that you follow these tips that will help you shed those pounds the frugal way.

For most people who are trying to lose weight a simple change in their diet makes all the difference. There are a lot of foods that people eat these days that are not healthy for them. These foods are often high in calories and fat and are full of unhealthy substances that work against their weight loss efforts. To be able to make the fat disappear once and for good you need to ensure that you change your eating habits and switch to a balanced diet. You will want to replace all of the bad things that you are currently eating such as fast food, fatty meats, and junk food snacks with healthy alternatives such as fruits, vegetables, and lean meats that are better for your body. You also want to replace sodas and other types of drinks that are high in sugar with water and juice.

Another important part of being able to lose weight is exercise. When a lot of people think about exercise they think about joining a gym or attending boot camp style classes, but exercising does not have to be this complicated. There are a lot of free exercises that you can do that are just as good for you as the things that you find in health clubs and classes that you can take. If you want to lose weight fast then you must start with cardio type exercises. Cardio training will help you increase your heart rate and this action helps your body burn more calories. The faster you perform the exercises the faster you will lose weight. Perfect examples of cardio exercises are jogging, cycling, or swimming.

There are a lot of great free ways that you can lose weight and get in shape if you are determined and put your mind to it. The diet and exercise program you follow will make all the difference in how many pounds you are able to lose and how fast you are able to lose them.  It does not cost any additional money to change the things that you eat and jogging around your neighborhood is free, so make sure that you start making these changes and you will be losing weight before you know it.

It’s a crime to see all the profit that the weight loss industry makes on those struggling with their weight. The formula is so simple, but we seem to make it so difficult if not impossible. Decrease input–increase output. Why can’t we seem to just comprehend that concept….

I just realized I get get workout DVDs from Netflix. I never really thought about it before. Some you can stream instantly on your TV, the rest through regular mail. I can try so many different DVDs without actually purchasing them (even though I pay the subscription for Netflix)

It really is just as easy (did I say it’s easy?!) to lose weight on your own than by paying for expensive plans or gyms. Exercise and some basic diet changes can work wonders. A simple (and totally free) change that I’ve made recently that’s had an immediate impact on my weight loss is eating more slowly. I was already working on portion control, but I was getting frustrated because I’d start eating and just minutes later everything was gone! Psychologically, it felt like I needed more. When I slowed down and actually savored at bite, completely chewing and swallowing before I took the next one, my stomach had time to feel full by the time I was done with my food. That made the portions more satisfying, so it was easier to eat less!
