Jobs are as rare as pearls these days and competition is fierce, which is why now, more than ever, we’ve got to use our imagination to put bread on the table. With that in mind, here are seven weird ways to make money.
7. The Doctors Will See You Now
This may not be the most savory sideline, but it does pay. Volunteering for medical trials by reputable companies is a solid way to make money. Companies and research centers are always on the lookout for volunteers, all you have to do is sign up (and hope for the best!).
6. Red Carpet Pets
You’ve paid out enough in pet chow and vet bills, now it’s time for your furry loved one to start doing their share. If your pet is achingly cute, then consider using it as a pet model. Pet products are big business these days with the endless array of products – all of which need to be advertised. Check out that picture of Rover on that can of dog food – that dog’s owner got paid a bundle for that. What are you waiting for?
5. Body Parts For Sale
I’m not talking about some overused Hollywood sci-fi premise here. There is money to be made, from, well, you. Wig makers pay plenty for human hair so why not sell yours. Hospitals in the US pay for blood and in many places you can even sell your sperm.
4. Extra In Your Wallet
Hollywood’s penchant for throwing vast sums of money around is well documented. What you might not know is that they are perfectly willing to throw some of it at you. Anyone can be a movie extra; all you have to do is sign up with an agency. Not only are you paid for your time, you also eat for free on set. And there’s overtime and double-time when things go long. That’s showbiz.
3. Start Clowning Around
A career as a Rodeo Clown pays well but obviously comes with risks but we’re talking about making money here and you’ll clean up. So, if you’re an adrenalin junkie who wants to be paid for that next rush, then hunt up a rodeo and sign on.
2. Calling Dr. Jones
Love to spend hours hunting through antique stores? Know more than the owner of the store does about the treasures of the past? Why not let that knowledge line your pockets? Prowl flea markets, estate sales, junkyards and antique stores for valuable treasures either free or for the taking on the cheap. Sell them yourself for what they are really worth.
1. If You Sell It, They Will Buy
The human imagination knows no bounds. Use yours to identify a money-making idea that fills a need people don’t know they have. Keep your eyes open. Whether it is re-selling stuffed animals collected from thrift stores or marketing grandma’s famous chocolate chip cookies, there are dollars to be made.
This list is only the beginning. There are endless ways to make a dollar that don’t involve the nine-to-five grind – using your head and your ingenuity might just get you out of the rat race.
