Even though we didn’t go anywhere… and I didn’t do any of the things I suggested in how to have a fun staycation, taking a week off from the regular routine has been a good thing. I feel refreshed and renewed. I highly recommend taking some time to unplug – even if it’s just for a day or so.
And now, it’s time for some suggested reading:
We’re debt-free except the house, so I was interested to read Ask the Reader: Should I Invest or Prepay My Mortgage? at Get Rich Slowly. I’m still on the fence on this one.
Over at Surviving and Thriving you’ll learn how to score A big meal plus leftovers for less than a buck. This reminds me of my early working days when I worked in a group home for developmentally disabled adults. You always wanted the shifts that covered mealtimes because they fed you for free!
I am in love with my DVR and my husband is addicted to a few select shows… but I still can’t help but hate our satellite bill, which is why I keep reading articles like How to Watch Television without Cable Service at The Consumerist.
I sometimes get a little defensive when working moms imply that the reason I can stay home with my kids is because we have more money… It’s not that at all, it’s just that we’ve made sacrifices so that we can survive on one income. If you’re in a dual income family and think you can’t have afford to have a parent stay home, read The Costs of Working at Free Money Finance. It will make you think.
I was recently included in the Carnival of Road to Financial Indepenence hosted by One Family’s Blog. There are some good reads in there – including tips on how to make the most of your Citi Cards reward points.
I’d also like to share my sixth and final post as the Pull-Ups Potty Ambassador. We’re still in potty-training mode, but we’ve learned a lot.
Happy Reading!
