7 Magazines That Can Help You Save Money

I love how the magazine publishing industry is spending a lot of money on its latest campaign to run magazine ads (of all things) stating they’re not a dying industry.

I used to be a journalist… and while I am now a computer geek, I still love holding a newspaper or magazine in my hand. There’s just a sense of permanence with the printed word, that I don’t get from the internet.

I subscribe to a handful of money-saving magazines, and I’d like to share my list with you.

All You. Each issue of this magazine comes with about $50 (or more!) of high value coupons for popular products.  Plus it’s full of excellent time-saving and money-saving ideas.  A subscription to All You easily pays for itself.

Reader’s Digest.  I enjoy the heart-touching stories  and the humorous anecdotes.  And who doesn’t need to grow their vocabulary?  But what I like the best is that this magazine frequently shares consumer tips and buyer beware articles you won’t find elsewhere.

Woman’s Day . I’ve been a huge Mary Hunt fan for years, and love her money-saving column in Women’s Day, but that’s not the only reason I enjoy this magazine.  There are usually lots of other money and time-saving tips and some coupons, too.

Smart Money. This is a Wall Street journal publication, and is not for the faint of  heart. If you’re interested in learning more about how the markets work and what it means for your bottom line, then this is a good read.

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.  I feel like this magazine combines the financial smarts of Smart Money with the accessibility of Readers Digest.  This is  a money magazine for everyone.

Family Handyman.  I don’t subscribe to this magazine  (I read it at my Mom’s), but it’s a good one.  Handyman is loaded with DIY projects to help you save on everything from home décor to home maintenance projects.

ReadyMade.  This is the ultimate how-to magazine for the person who loves the idea of turning trash into treasure.  Every issue inspires me.

These are some of my favorite reads – and while I like getting them in my mailbox -  it may not be in your budget to subscribe.  Check your local library, look online, or borrow from a friend.
