I don’t know about you, but I suspect that there are simply not enough hours in the day.
Of course, I know the truth. We all get 168 hours every week to spend them as we see fit, and that the reality is I spend waaaay too much of that time on Facebook and watching old episodes of Family Guy.
Ugh. Anyway…
I recently got the chance to read Jim Randel’s new book The Skinny on Time Management: How to Maximize Your 24-Hour Gift.
First off, let me say this: Jim Randel is good at making the most of the use of your free time. I was able to read this book in less than two hours. (I probably could have read it in about an hour, but there are those little people who live here who seem to need things….)
And let’s get this straight: Just because it was a quick read doesn’t mean it isn’t worth your time. Randel has taken the time to read hundreds of books and articles on time management and has condensed the information into a fun, easily applicable format.
Think “Cliffs Notes” on time management, but a lot funnier and with amusing illustrations.
The Skinny on Time Management covers a lot of topics in a short amount of time such as procrastination, training yourself to focus, how to triumph over distractions, how to batch like tasks and how to make the most of those weird gaps of time in your day.
I definitely pulled a few new ideas from this book, as I try to use my time more effectively.
Randel’s book reminded me of how time is like money… it can be quite a challenge to create more of it, but there is always something to be learned in how we spend it.
