The following is a guest post by Chris from Weight loss help and tips.

Two recent studies proved through medical research that over-the-counter weight loss pills are a complete waste of money. They surely do not work as advertised and they have nothing to offer to people who want to lose weight. If you are careful on where you spend your money then do yourself a favor and stay away from pills that can do more harm to your health than good.

What happens in many of the cases is that people are desperate in losing those extra pounds and their desire makes them spend enormous amount of money on diet pills or other ‘miraculous’ ways to lose weight. They believe that these supplements will help them find a solution to their problem fast and with no effort but they end up in a worse situation than when they begin. First they are not getting the results they want and this has a negative impact on their self-esteem, second they end up with more weight because they are disappointed and give up their efforts to lose weight and third they spend their money on fake products or fad diets that cannot produce any real results.

The weight loss industry is a huge industry with more than one billion dollars spends each year on diet pills and other products. Marketing agencies do a great job through advertising to convince you to buy a certain pill or follow a famous ‘celebrity’ diet. The money involved and profit margins are such that ethics come second place. Their aim is to make you believe that these products work and that they are your only solution to quick weight loss. Most of the pills are promoted as fat burners or metabolism boosters but none of them has passed substantial clinical examination. On the contrary medical institutions that ‘tested’ these products scientifically found out that they are not in any way beneficial for your weight loss efforts. In fact some weight loss pills are also responsible for damaging the liver and other essential body organs.

It is your duty to stay away from those calls and be sure that there are lots of healthy ways to lose weight for free and without spending any money. Weight loss is simple and can save you money (because you will be eating less) and it is not something that you should spend your money on. Making simple changes to your diet and lifestyle can do wonders to your weight. All it takes is to follow a more conservative diet by being selective on which foods to eat and in what quantities and exercise on a regular basis. There are many ways to lose weight the frugal way and none of them includes buying pills, fitness equipment or other products.

In order to avoid any confusion we need to mention that there are certain diet pills that work but these are prescribed by a specialist doctor and are not available over-the-counter. Such pills are essential for people with high obesity and are only taken after careful medical analysis and examination and only for a limited amount of time.
