Walgreens is rolling out its new Balance Rewards program starting this Sunday.
When you sign up for the new Walgreens Balance Rewards program (it’s FREE!), you’ll save on sale items each week, earn points for every purchase made (including prescriptions!), and get 10 points for every mile you walk when you use Walk with Walgreens.
You’ll be able to redeem those points for cash on a future purchase. For example, you’ll earn $5 to spend when you earn 5,000 points. You’ll earn 500 points per prescription and immunization and anywhere from 100 to 3,000 points on regular household items from cookies to laundry detergent.
Sign up for Walgreens Balance Rewards before Saturday, September 15, 2012, and you could win one million points! That would start things off right!
I’ve been hearing rumors that they’ll be phasing out Register Rewards in favor of this new Balance Rewards loyalty card, but I have yet to see anything official. It wouldn’t surprise as this system is probably less resource-intensive. I will be curious to see how the new program stacks up to the savings we’re used to getting.
