On a daily basis I try to stay on top of keeping things picked up and floor and counters clean, which keeps it from feeling chaotic, but I needed to develop some kind of schedule to do some special cleaning projects and deep clean some rooms even further than a daily clean.
After a summer of the kids home, things really started to get neglected, so I made up this checklist out of necessity.

I needed to re-claim my house. I started by just getting back to a working foundation by making my home look more like a home than a storage facility. I got all suitcases and travel bags unpacked and souvenirs of the summer put away and found my house again.
Obviously, this is suited to my household needs and you may need to change some things, but this should give you an idea of a do-able deep cleaning schedule. I didn’t want to have too much on the weekly schedule because I don’t want to just be cleaning! There are other projects I want to tackle and there will be plenty of times that some cleaning projects will come up that I need to tackle immediately (i.e. wherever the cats decide to puke in the middle of the night.
So, go ahead and use my printable list or use it as ideas of things to add to your own list. I know there are so many other things I need to clean that didn’t get added to the list, but I hope that I get to them when I deep clean those particular rooms. And please, if you come to my house, don’t think I love to clean or am very good at it since I have created this list or because I have done a couple other posts on cleaning on Northern Cheapskate. I am just another mom trying to bring a little organization to my life while using green cleaning techniques.
The “Fancy Room” is just a formal room. We have an old victorian house, and so it is more of a sitting room but with little kids all the different room names needed to make sense to them and “fancy” room just stuck. I don’t even think twice about calling it that now. But don’t worry it’s not off limits or all proper or anything, just a few more decorations and wing back chairs. We use it all the time.
Now that our first little one is here, I find it hard to find time to get regular tasks done. However, I need to make a list and work on one task at a time!!
I need to do this! I have so much to get done around the house and don’t know where to start.
I think we pretty much all need to do this. Great way to break it down to make it more manageable.
