I am a teacher and my birthday is the last day of August and so it is at the start of every school year that I feel like it is a “New Year.” I make resolutions then. It has worked for me for years. However, the close of 2010 is different.
The hint came that I needed to make a change when I discovered I had a $5 Register Reward from Walgreens that had EXPIRED! A day or so later realized simply couldn’t fit another single item on to my “soap” shelf in my bathroom closet so I started taking things out and arranged them in a single layer on the desk of my guest room. I had 11 shampoo samples. ELEVEN! And that is just what I am willing to ‘fess up to having. I will not be talking about my year’s supply of toothpaste.
Clearly, I have gotten in over my head with this stockpiling/saving money/coupon business.
Some of you have done a “No Spend Challenge” and I thought about it. The problem is that I have things I must purchase for commitments I have made. What to do, what to do…….So, here is my resolution:
No buying stuff I already have until the end of March. Even if it is technically free.
I’ll let you know how that goes! (And perhaps come up with some really interesting pasta recipes in the process!)
How about you? What do you have too much of?
