I’ve honestly never given a lot of thought to Valentine’s Day.
You see, it’s my Dad’s birthday. So I always felt that it didn’t matter whether I was single or with someone, because I always had cake on Valentine’s Day. And any day with cake in it is bound to be good.
But I know that Valentine’s Day is a big deal for a lot of people. So here are some ideas to show someone you love them without breaking the bank.
1) Make your sweetie a special dinner. Make their favorite dish, or try something a little more extravagant than your usual fare. Your sweetheart will appreciate the effort and you’ll save a lot of money by not going to a restaurant. Check out RecipeZaar or All Recipes for ideas.
2)Make it sweet. Not up to making a whole dinner? Just make something sweet for your sweetheart. Or you can meet at your favorite restaurant and only order dessert.
3)Send a message. You can send your significant other an e-card or get crafty and make your own card. The important part is the message you write inside the card. The really frugal option: You can go with your sweetheart to the card shop and show each other cards you would have bought them, if you weren’t so frugal!
4) Delay the Day. Who says you have to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14. Wait until after the big day and you’ll find the restaurants aren’t crowded and the candy is half-price.
5)Share a moment. Snuggle up with your sweetie. Suprise them with a candlelight trip to the bedroom. Get creative! There are ways to show you care without spending any money at all. The important thing is that you have each other.
