I was honored to be one of 50 bloggers invited to participate in an all-expense paid trip to the first ever General Mills Eat and Greet event in Minneapolis last week.
More than a little honored when I saw this sign:
I’ve always been a huge fan of General Mills products – my kids practically survive on Cheerios – so I was thrilled to be invited. I was also pumped to meet some of my favorite bloggers in person. Neither experience disappointed.
General Mills and Coyne PR (the company behind MyBlogSpark) really threw out the welcome mat. They carefully arranged every detail and made sure the entire event went smoothly. On the night we arrived in Minneapolis, we were treated to a tour of the Mill City Museum and got a chance to network during a delicious dinner.
But the next day was when the eating and greeting REALLY started. We began the morning bright and early with a scrumptious breakfast, then a two-hour visit to the Betty Crocker Test Kitchens, where we got to sample more than 15 different General Mills products and talk with General Mills staffers about their products and promotions. We also got a chance to do a little shopping at the General Mills “Company Store” and took a tour of the General Mills Photography Studios. It was so interesting to learn more about food photography and how it relates to the marketing of products. It almost made me want to start a food blog… almost….
What I think I enjoyed the most (aside from chatting with other bloggers), was being given the opportunity to share my opinions with General Mills. At every point of our visit, I felt that General Mills genuinely cared about what we bloggers had to say about their products. They really seemed to appreciate our questions and value our ideas.
I had a great time and I’m delighted that over the next few days and weeks, I’ll be able to share some more great General Mills coupons and offers with you.
