I look out at this little tree from my kitchen window, and a smile comes to my face. It reminds me of Christmases past with family, of playing outside with the kids in the snow, and of lopsided snowmen. And it is a reminder that the holidays are not about things.
“Joy is not in things; it’s in us.” – Richard Wagner
I hope that you take these words to heart this season. I hope you are able to enjoy all of the things you get to do. I hope you find peace and beauty around you and remember that the most important things in life aren’t things.
I’ll be taking a few days off to spend some quality time with my family, but I plan to resume posting here on December 26. While I’m gone be sure to explore the archives for lots of money-saving ideas. And remember you can subscribe to Northern Cheapskate or follow us on Facebook to get the latest updates.
