Showing children what money is used for, how to earn it, count it, save it and spend, are just some of the lessons parents will need to teach their children.
And it’s never to early to start. Sesame Street has launched “For Me, For You, For Later: First Steps to Spending, Sharing and Saving,” a website dedicated to helping parents guide their young children through simple activities about making good choices, determining value, spending, sharing, and saving. The goal is to help parents raise children who will make good financial decisions.
The Sesame Street site has nine free videos to watch featuring favorite Sesame Street Characters like Elmo and Cookie Monster. The videos, along with a downloadable 12-page parent guide, are designed to help you teach your child about money and encourage good decision making and independence.
Talking about money doesn’t have to be boring when there loveable furry monsters involved.
