How to Find Free or Cheap Campsites

Camping can be a great way to travel when you’re on a budget, especially once you have acquired the proper equipment.

You can make camping on a budget even more affordable by knowing where to find free or cheap campsites.

FreeCampSites.net is designed to help you find places to stay for less than $12 per night.  You can search by location as well as by amenities available, so you’ll know in advance if there are sewer hookups for your RV or a playground nearby for the kids.

The site relies on reviews and comments from other campers who share their experiences, and according to the site’s frequently asked questions, it is updated frequently.  Since you still have to contact the campsite directly to make a reservation, you can always double check the costs and amenities when you call.

The site is a great way to help you plan a low-cost camping trip and offers you a few more options than just your buddy’s backyard.

Just make sure you remember to bring the campfire pie irons and all the fixin’s for S’mores!

Going camping in MN State Forest Land is cheap or FREE. As low as $13 a night for remote sites, and even FREE for some rustic sites. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/rustic_camping.html
