Dry skin can feel very tight, itchy, and irritating. There are many products available to help soothe and moisturize your skin, but they can be quite expensive. You can save money by making your own moisturizing products with ingredients that are in your kitchen cabinet already.
Honey Bubble Bath
This bubble bath will help to soothe your dry and itchy skin. You will need a bar of Ivory soap, 1/4 cup of honey, 1/2 cup of water, 1 cup of oatmeal, and your favorite essential oil. Cut the Ivory soap into small pieces and put it in a blender. Add the honey and water and blend until smooth. Put this mixture into a bowl and add two to five drops of essential oil. Clean your blender well, then add the oatmeal and blend until the oatmeal is a fine powder. Add the oatmeal to the soap mixture and stir well. Add the entire mixture to a warm bath and soak in it for at least fifteen minutes. Apply a skin moisturizer within five minutes of getting out of the tub to help seal the moisture into your skin.
Moisturizing Egg Facial Mask
Eggs are loaded with vitamins that can help to replenish the moisture in your dry facial skin. This mask also includes honey and olive oil, which are also believed to help keep your skin moisturized. Mix the yolk of 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of honey. Once you have blended these two ingredients together well, stir in 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Before you apply the mask wash your hands and face. Apply the mask to your face and neck. Leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes. Rinse using warm water, and gently pat dry with a soft towel. Although this is very gentle on your skin, it should not be used more than once a week.
Oatmeal Body Scrub
This body scrub contains many ingredients that will help your skin retain its moisture. You will need 2 tablespoons of rolled oats, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Grind the oats in a food processor until they have the look of sugar. Add the rest of the ingredients and combine well. In a circular motion, gently apply the scrub to moist skin. Rinse with warm water. This is gentle enough to use daily and can be used on the face and body.
To make your own strawberry moisturizer, all you will need is 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of smashed strawberries, and 1 drop of vitamin E oil. Mix all the ingredients until they are combined well. This is safe enough to use as a daily moisturizer on your face and body. If it is stored in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator, it will last for several weeks.
