How to Save Money on Photo Printing

By Justin Weinger 2 Comments

Remember the old days when you only took 12 or 24 photos at a time?

There was a lot more pressure to take the perfect picture before the digital photography era arrived.

Now we take hundreds of photos of a single event.  It can get expensive to print those photos if you have trouble hitting the delete key.

Here are some ways that you can save money on photo printing.

Be very, very selective. Limiting the number of photos you print is the simplest way to save money.  Scrutinize all of your photos, then pick just a handful of the best ones.  Use a photo editing program (You can purchase programs like Adobe Photoshop Elements or use the highly popular FREE Google Picasa) to make your pictures look fabulous.  You’ll be printing top quality photos and save money.

Sign up for every online photo service you can and take advantage of their deals. Photo services like Snapfish, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly, Clark Color and RitzPix frequently offer free photo prints to new members.  Many of these sites also offer you additional free prints when you share photos online or refer friends.  Once you’re on their mailing lists, you’ll get sent more special offers. And SeeHere and Walgreens Photo are great places to snag some great photo freebies or deals throughout the year.

Print your own photos at home. Home printers can be giant ink guzzlers, but if you’re short on time and can score a great deal on ink and photo paper, you may find some savings by printing at home.  The best part about this is that it’s easy to print what you want when you want it.  When you see a great sale on ink or paper, stock up.  And don’t forget that you can order online through Ebates and save even more.

Don’t print your photos at all. Create a photo slide show or a digital scrapbook instead.  Check out services like Smilebox for ways to preserve your memories without prints.  If you choose not to print, just be sure to backup your photos (both on an external hard drive and off-site) so you don’t lose your memories if you’re computer unexpectedly dies.

Another option for editing photos is MegaFixels. MegaFixels offers professional photo editing online. Our services include restoration, repair, enhancements, etc. We will make the changes that meet your specifications, whether for personal or commercial use. MegaFixels has been in business since 2006. We are located here in the United States and provide our clients with excellent and dependable digitally remastered results within 24 hours or less for most small projects. Special pricing is available for bulk editing. The best part is WE DO NOT REQUIRE ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION until you have viewed your file(s) and decide to purchase. So give us a try – there’s absolutely NO OBLIGATION.

I highly recommend Costco for photo printing. It’s well worth the membership just for that! 4×6 prints are only 13 cents and will discount to 10 cents if you order 500 or more in one order (plus there’s a coupon out right now that makes them 9 cents no matter how many your order). And enlargements are a great deal too!! My local store just started offering poster prints and prints on canvas at very great prices – even cheaper than some deals online!
    Check them out!! =)
