This giveaway is now closed. See who won here.
I have always loved games. They’re great fun… and now that I’m older, I’ve come to appreciate what frugal entertainment they are.
My boys (a 5-year-old and twin 3-year-olds) are just starting to become interested in games. This has made rainy and snowy days much more tolerable around here!
Pressman Toys recently sent us two of their games to try and they also gave me a set of these games to giveaway, too! So let me tell you a little bit about them and then we’ll get to the giveaway part!
Chimp & Zee Shopping Cart Dash (ages 3 & up)
The premise: In Chimp and Zee Shopping Cart Dash kids get the chance to hone their shopping skills as they race little shopping carts along the supermarket aisles to collect fruits, vegetables, meat and fish. The first player to fill their shopping cart with the six items on their shopping list and pay for them wins.
The verdict: The first time we played this, it was almost as stressful as taking my three boys into the grocery store! There are a lot of parts to this game, which makes the game set-up kind of frustrating. Add to that mix the adorable little shopping carts and there were a few squabbles to break up! We played this game again a few other times (once with just one boy, another time with just two), and we all had a lot more fun. I like the skills it teaches: shopping with a list, paying for things, sorting, matching, taking turns and learning colors. My kids love this game and ask me to play quite often!
Dinosaur Train All Aboard Game (ages 4 & up)
The premise: In the Dinosaur Train All Aboard Game, you get to choose a character from the PBS show The Jim Henson Company’s Dinosaur Train – Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, Don, Cory, Tank or Mr. Conductor – and try to move the fastest along the tracks. Speed through the three dinosaur eras, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous, along the beautiful scenery. The first player to reach the nest area in the center of the board wins.
The verdict: My oldest boy enjoyed playing this game. At first, he was upset that the dinosaurs weren’t angry looking. (They’re rather cute, actually), but he enjoyed learning more about the dinosaur eras while we played. The game is good for learning counting and taking turns, and the kiddos learn to follow directions as they skip ahead when they land on Special Stopwatch spaces or get sent back when they land on Dinosaur Crossing spaces. This would be a great game for a child interested in dinosaurs or one who is a fan of the Dinosaur Train show on PBS. Side note: My twins are too young to play this game just yet (mostly because it takes awhile to play and they don’t have the patience yet), but they liked moving the little train playing pieces along the track and making up their own games.
And now, here’s where you get a chance to try these games! Pressman Toys is giving one lucky reader their own set of these fun games! The winner will receive Chimp & Zee’s Shopping Cart Dash and Dinosaur Train All Aboard Game. (Winning these games would make Christmas much easier, don’t you think?)
